After two days of travel, we have yet to reach our destination! After gearing up for what we expected to be a 30-hour stretch of flights and layovers before reaching Vietnam, we completed a short 25-minute "commuter" flight to Detroit, Michigan and discovered that our connecting flight to Las Angeles was cancelled due to "mechanical problems." Consequently, we spent the night in Detroit...just 2 hours from our home. Saturday morning, we boarded a flight to Seattle. And after arriving in Seattle, we were told that our 10-hour flight to Tokyo would be delayed by one hour...which gave us only 35 minutes to catch our connecting flight to Vietnam. Despite the great effort of our flight crew, we didn't make it. We are now in Tokyo for the night. Our flight for Vietnam leaves tomorrow morning. I spoke with our Vietnam coordinator upon our arrival here in Tokyo and she informed me that we will be receiving Dylan on Tuesday.
