I went to the local ticket office to confirm our return flight this morning. We are scheduled to leave Vietnam on July 4 and return home on July 5.
This evening, we met up with Bill & Paula again (a couple that also adopted a boy from Vinh Long). We went to the Water Puppet Theatre and then out for dinner. Getting to the show was quite a feat. We had a thunderstorm with very heavy rains pass through late this afternoon (around rush hour), and when we walked out at 6:00 and asked the doorman to call a taxi, we were told that there were no taxis available because of a traffic jam. We were given a map with directions to the theatre, and told that it was about “a one or two minute walk.” Well, we hustled and made it there in 20 minutes. The streets were total chaos. We literally risked our lives to cross over an intersection. And so much for a stroll down the sidewalk…we were dodging scooters nearly the whole way! What a sight to see. Our efforts paid off. The puppet show was very unique. The music was fabulous (a bit too much for Dylan at times), and the puppets were quite entertaining. All the puppets (and props) are controlled while moving about on a “stage” of water. The boys were restless, but made it through the one-hour show. They both conked out during dinner.
[Speaking of water puppets...as you can see, Dylan loves his bath!]
