It was a HOT day…over 100 degrees and humidity you could cut with a knife…much like yesterday and probably the same for tomorrow. It was another special day for us. This morning we were issued new tickets for our return flight home, and this afternoon Dylan received official approval from the US Embassy to travel to the United States as a Vietnamese immigrant. As soon as we land in the US, he will become a US citizen.
The trip to the Embassy was uneventful. Many adoptive parents get anxious about the Visa “interview,” but there was no interview of any kind. Apparently since the US changed the Visa approval to occur before a US couple travels to adopt a baby from Vietnam, all that is asked on this end is an oath or affirmation that the information contained in the Visa application is true and accurate. After swearing that it was, we were told to return in two hours to pick up Dylan’s Visa. We went back to the hotel, and our coordinator here in Hanoi, Ms. An Na (see photo below), delivered the Visa several hours later. So, we’re free to travel home! Tomorrow will be our last full day here in Vietnam.
